Rotational strength for boxing can impact speed and power which massively contribute to fast and forceful punches.

However, before we focus on the speed we need to develop the foundations. At Boxing Science, we massively prioritise rotational mobility, strength and stability.

For increased rotational power to transfer to fast and hard punches, We also require rotational STRENGTH and SPEED⁣⁣.

THIS POST WILL FOCUS OF ROTATIONAL STRENGTH FOR BOXING.⁣⁣

⁣Prior to working on fast and dynamic actions to develop rotational speed & power – we need to create rotational strength and stability ⁣⁣

THIS IS CALLED ANTI-ROTATION⁣⁣

Anti rotation for boxing

Anti-rotation is the ability to resist rotation of the trunk ⁣⁣

Excessive rotation during combinations could affect the angle of attack or defensive position⁣⁣.

Lack of strength decreases stretch-shortening of the core muscles, therefore less punch force produced.⁣⁣

By increasing rotational strength, we create ourselves a stable base to increase the STRETCH-SHORTENING CYCLE of the core muscles …. this will help transfer into fast and dynamic rotation 👊🏼⁣⁣

Developing the SSC will contribute to more forceful combination punching and improves the boxer’s ability to recover from slipping or ducking maneouvres which can create more opportunities for counter-punching.
