Kid Galahad
Barry Awad, commonly known as Kid Galahad in the boxing world, has been training with at Sheffield Hallam University since 2012.
In the space of two years, Galahad won British, Commonwealth and European super-bantamweight titles as well as being awarded the BBBofC young boxer of the year in 2014.
Following a few years working up the world rankings, Galahad earned a mandatory shot at the IBF Featherweight world title against Josh Warrington.
Dr. Alan Ruddock devised a world-class conditioning programme to train pacing strategies over the 12 rounds. Barry was in great condition, but went to Leeds as the underdog as many favoured a Josh Warrington win.
Galahad showed his class and many thought he had won prior to the announcement of the judges scorecards, however he was on the wrong side of a split decision.
At 29, Kid Galahad will look to comeback strong in his second tilt at world championship glory.
