To continue movement week and follow on from our Move Better, Jab Harder article, we introduce our exercise of the month
Lunge and rotate
We use this exercise in Combat Conditioning during warm-ups, movement clinics and as movement fillers during the boxers main workout.
The reason why we hold this exercise in such high regard is that it promotes upper body rotation whilst keeping the lower body stable. This improves core and shoulder flexibility, subsequently improving the effectiveness of these muscles during a punching action.
